Looks like they sold shares not the company...wonder if they still own most of it?
Noticed that too. They have sold a lot of shares before, but does the family still own it, honestly don’t know. Last I heard they own a little over 50%, so with this sell off, could be true?
Pretty easy calculation ... 374m divided by share price of 142 gives you about 2.6 million shares. There are 2.83 Billion shares, which means 2.6 million is less than 1% of total shares.
Easier than that. Walmart is worth well over a billion, no way they sell the majority of the company for less than half a bill.
At 3.8 billion share at $142, walmart is worth more than $400 Billion. The point being, if they had 51% before, they still have more than 50%, which was the question.
