It doesn't seem as though elections are banned. The parties just have to try really hard to not have an election.

If there is an election, then they can use this to blame each other for the election even more than usual.

Even without this motion, I don't see the NDP stopping their propping up of the Liberals, especially now that their leader outed himself as a right wing extremist.
