My work has implemented a policy where only vaccinated employees can remove their masks. If you choose not to declare your vaccination status, or declare that you're unvaxed then you have to continue wearing the mask (and possibly stand out among the crowd), or face disciplinary action - possibly including termination.
My question is: do I wait it out, or risk speaking up and possibly losing my job? I don't want to lie about my status or circumvent the policy and feel like I'm watching over my shoulder at all times. I don't want to take part in the lies anymore and I shouldn't have to feel ostracized for that. I know AFLD has resources, but I think I should talk to someone within the company first.
I don't have tons of people I can talk to about this IRL, so I'm really hoping I can get some helpful words here.
This kind of thinking doesn't exist in a vacuum and a company that's willing to go this route with the injections likely has similar attitudes about a lot of things, which is not an environment I'd want to spend so much of my time in.
Read the ICAN website first. It's called Religious persecution or discrimination. If you want to make a difference, sacrifice yourself for the good of all. One person files a lawsuit - a second will. Once there are 3 lawsuits - businesses quickly change their tune. These people - not specifically your employer - but the ones who are pushing this mentality don't care about your employer. They want your employer's business to dissolve. A few employers will be sacrificed - but it;s the only way we get other businesses to wake up. Notice that most of the major corporations don't have these mandates. The goal is to have monopolies in every industry.
I feel like even if you get around it legally, they may fire you for different reasons down the line. Start looking for another job. Worst case scenario you end up homeless. Would you take the jab to avoid that? My answer is no. Not trying to discourage but not taking it is all that matters. It's about more than just the risk of the vaccine. This is about freedom and human dignity. That's what the mask were about. We can't give in. No matter what.
Not sure the size of your company, but from my prior experiences once you show backbone you’ll be a target of sorts, as previous comment says. If you’re willing to fight if things go south, it’d be worth having a call with an attorney prior to know anything you should avoid stating, etc. If you believe we’re at war you should prepare for the battle.
You have to decide if you want to keep your job or not. If it is very important to you, then you have two choices.
If the job isn't worth either of those then tell them your vaccine status is none of their business, and it is nobody else's business either. You will not be wearing mask, and it is their choice to fire you or not.
This is my approach as well, do not give an inch, make them fire you.
Big risk for them knowingly firing for something that can’t be mandatory due to its status as emergency use only.
So no mask, no injection
Yep
I would get a drs note stating you can’t wear a mask anymore, they can’t fire you for it and you’ll be in the clear. Also state that you’re waiting for FDA approval and once the vax is approved you will reevaluate your decision. That’s been my response. There’s also paperwork that you can give your employer to sign that states if anything happens and you’re not able to work after the jab they are legally responsible for your workmen’s comp and there’s no way they’ll sign off on that.
No injection, no mask, put the ball in their court.
Make them fire you, it’s the first step needed for your wrongful termination suit.
100% this is my situation.... guidance came out about a week ago. I went to my manager instantly, and he talked with HR- he said no names were used.
I’ve researched my pension and what happens if I leave the company .... painful pension things. I only need to wait a few more years, and I’m terrified they will get to “jab required for employment” before this year is out.
That is my hill. I will wear the mask and in the background I will prepare for that eventuality so I am ready.
I would rock the mask. Stay strong in your beliefs. Don't let people think the vax is ok, fight it anyway you can. Speak up, you cannot get fired for advocating for your health or if you do you have a nice lawsuit on your hands. I would also send them any information you can find on how masks don't work. Oh and if vaccines work so well why do we still need the masks??? Sorry you have to deal with this, been fighting our schools and employers and I am so angry but will not give into these lunatics.
