Me too. Then I worked in a hospital, saw what went on and how people closed their eyes and kept quiet. Realised it totally was unethical so... I trained for the law. I was such a naive little cupcake. That corruption was far, far worse and decided I could not go on with it; became a happy gardener instead. Never regretted it.
Yes, I hear you,
I worked in IT for years, including for multinationals. My heart was not in it.
Eventually I became an electrician, then a full time carer!
Like you I chose honest work in the end.
Good to have a clear conscience and self respect. Funny thing was meeting up with someone I did law with: I admired her designer suit and nice shoes, she envied my freedom and relaxed lifestyle. No comparison. Having your name on a building is not worth selling your soul for. I never liked status symbols, happy with my lot. Contentment is great gain.
I have self confidence and pride in being an anon, even a late one. I expect all of us here have. We are doing our part.
Gardening is always useful, lawyers aren't. You can grow herbs and be a healer, too.
I do, most work way better than meds. And share fruit and veg with elderly neighbours - much nicer.
