Animals can't tell you their preference either. Should we come up with moronic names for them?

Apparently its animalself until they learn how to speak and let you know whether they identify as a "dog" or "cat" or "giraffe".

I bypassed the problem by naming my Felis catus "Cat". When it learns to speak if it chooses it can self identify as a hedgehog, walrus, or Tasmanian devil if it wants. It won't matter because its name is Cat.

What do I know though, I'm just an Ape.
