Because condensation naturally occurs when hot airplane engine exhaust meets cold moist air in the upper atmosphere, creating visible ice crystals in a trail behind the plane—hence the term condensation trails, or contrails.

I can remember when all I saw in the sky were visible ice crystals behind a plane. I am also a pilot - though not of fighter jets - but even so I can tell the difference.
Certain mods don’t like that topic. I got a temp ban for a similar post.
