Evergreen Burning in Ceylon?

Evergreen is the shipping company name. The ship that was stuck sideways in the Suez was one of their ships but the name was "EverGIVEN"
This is sad. It had tons of nitric acid in it, and other nasty things, and was burning for two weeks before it started to sink because the acid was getting loose. THEN they think maybe it should be towed out to sea from where it has been just off Colombo. It's going to be very hard on the ocean life right there.
If you aren't familiar with nitric acid, it is used to recover gold from goldfilled items, computer boards and much more-what's on board that ship would not dilute it enough.
Actually I am quite familiar with reclaiming gold that way. There was about 22 tons of nitric acid on the ship, supposedly. The concentrated acid reacts violently with water. So we don't know how the fire started or how the acid was stored, but if the acid leaked it would go through steel, or if there is bilge water that could also explode. We also don't know what other chemicals were on board that could have contributed. The problem is there is a lot of fishing in that area, and coral formations along the coast south, tourist diving and boating--not a good place for any chemical spill.
I'm glad you filled out the info! I just know I would never consider working with it. And yes it is a ecological disaster for the region-add it to the wreckage on the ocean from Fukushima, plus the garbage rivers feeding into the oceans.. ?
WOW!
Waiting on Greta to Scold them on doing bad things to the environment.
That cargo ship is not massive compared to others. You can tell by the size of the containers compared to the size of the ship.
How do we know that is Evergreen?
It looks nothing like the Evergreen.
Evergreen is not the name of a ship. It's the name of the transport company that owns the ships and also owns cargo planes. The ship stuck in the Suez Canal was named the Evergiven. It was owned/leased by Evergreen.
Hence the question mark... wasn't evergreen going north? I assume someone can shipfag who it is...
Did you even read the article that you linked? Because they tell you:
“The 'X-press Pearl' cargo ship caught fire due to a chemical reaction of hazardous material on board.”
