Predictive programming (ex: Denver airport murals, movies, plague-of-the-year fetishism) has been prepping us to accept a disease component.

Considering their multiple avenues of biological, cultural, and economic weapons to break us down this far, I figured they'd line up A and B, plus C in reserve if the job was unfinished.
