I can promise you, without a doubt, the earth is not flat. If it was flat, submarine navigation would not be possible. We would not have any nuclear submarines, nor would anyone else. The properties of a globular earth and its gravity are used in gyro navigation equipment to determine location in a 3d plane, underwater.
