Lol if you own rental properties you get to meet the best of the best. There are also good renters but mainly shitty humans. My grandfather owned quit a few rental properties roughly 100 units and in the last few years he started renting to anyone (early stages of alzheimers). The family asked my young dumb self to kind of take over and manage them as the disease progressed. Not knowing what i was getting into became the worst and most stressful experience of my life. Pennsylvania panders to the a-holes (renters rights). Thank the good lord none of the apartments were gov. Subsidized, it could have been a lot worse. The craziest stories of my life all revolve around his rental properties. I'm talking stuff that would blow your mind.
You are spot on with that 100%. Unfortunately my grandfather didn't see that. Most everyone in the family has houses that are paid off as well as new cars. Almost 12 years later and they are still fighting over who gets what.
Had one tenant kept beating his wife and kid. Ended up taking all exterior doors off hinges in middle of december. They left quick. I knew she would end up at her parents with her kid and without the hated boyfriend.
Had one tenant kept stealing from all the other tenants. He kept taking the ladder we used for maintenance out of the dark detached garage he shouldn't be in. Wired a car battery with 2 bare wires so when he grabbed the ladder it would make the wires touch and zap the shit out of him. He never said anything but he stopped stealing shit.
Had a dirtball family that beat up an old lady tenant. They kept parking in her spot and she was mad because she had to walk 3x farther so they kicked her ass and almost killed her.
Had another tenant steal all the rent checks out of my grandfathers car and try to cash them.
Had a guy atleast 500lbs put a chair with metal legs on it in the shower because he couldn't stand up long enough. It poked holes through bottom of tub flooding downstairs apartment closet. Neither tenant said a word until he died.
Had one tenant shoot another tenant in the face with a pellet gun.
One house property had a 60 year old lady with her husband. Lived there for years without a problem. Then she didn't pay for a few months so we got them out. Upon inspecting the house she had pulled all the wiring apart, made holes in the drywall everywhere, toilet got clogged so they shit in the spare bedroom closet. She said people were spying on her.. I'm pretty sure it was meth.
Most all of these took place in one apartment building.
Well... crap son... essential worker here or should I say permitted worker here cause we know everyone should have stayed at work. I things work out for those who were forced out of jobs.
And .... Landlords like me are banding together to refuse to rent to anyone evicted for non payment who doesn't clear up that debt. I wish them luck in their search.
Good.boot em out.ive spent a year so far in a hotel at 100.00 a night,do the math. No stimulus.no tax returns.no pandemic assistance.no food stamps.no welfare. No government help whatsoever. Doing with the skin off my own knuckles. Theres nothing out here for apartments or houses to rent at a reasonable price and that accepts dogs.
A lot of those are just going to jump back into another home. They use that moratorium to not pay the rent.
I know a couple with3 kids who got in on a government program to have a house built with 0 down and 0 interest for the first two years.
They made the first two payments destroyed the house and were evicted in two years.
Just saying don’t feel sorry for all of them. This is how they live.

The best rentals are storage units.

For those of us who can’t get past Captcha crap on our phones...
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/eviction-moratorium-ending-harvard-housing-report/
Rotate to landscape and then do the captcha. Works like a charm.
Will have to try that next time! Thanks ?
My phone won’t rotate. I’ve tried it!
Ahhh, this time it worked! Thanks!
And BlackRock is buying up as many as possible!
