Major (born January 2018) was a rescue from a litter that had been exposed to **"something toxic" **in their home,[2] and their owner was unable to afford the expense of veterinary care for them.[7][5] He was fostered by the Bidens earlier that year from the Delaware Humane Association's shelter and has been with them since late 2018. On the day Joe Biden adopted the dog from the shelter, he stayed "telling stories and taking selfies with staffers" for over an hour.[5] The origin of Major's name is not publicly known, but Beau Biden, Joe Biden's son with his first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, was a major in the Delaware National Guard.[7][10][12] Major joined several other dogs adopted by world leaders, including French president Emmanuel Macron and his Labrador-Griffon cross Nemo, and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and his Portuguese Water Dog Kenzie.[13]
No, they had two German Shepherds. Champ (who died) was 13. Major, the one made infamous by the “White House” biting incidents, is 3 and (presumably) still alive. I feel sorry for both dogs.
Funny you say that: (from wiki)
So this dog was only 4ish years old?
Major is about 4, yes. The article above is on Champ, 13 (deceased).
I was responding to the 'toxic' context in the comment above mine.
Gotcha. I was a little confused by the names
