its a type of controlled oppossition. These magazines are used to establish 'crazy conspiracy stories' that are outrageous and 'only for stupid' and they pepper in the truth they dont want people to believe so it gets associated with the outrageous ones

What if the National Enquirer was a comms vector?

Stories so outrageous, sold at point of sale counters besides gossip mags and so on. If you were a white hat or operative … this would be an awesome way for comms to go through.

And think about it… these guys are STILL in business!
