Shit visited on the child is not karma. It would karma if it were visited on the idiot mother that didn't protect her child instead of waving her moral indignation to her brother who apparently was the only one in line for brains in the family.
Most conceptions of karma presume reincarnation, so children are fair game for shit circling back from past lives. A wonderful thing about Jesus is that, without taking a stand on the existence or the relevance of karma, he demonstrated that full forgiveness can be had at any time by full repentance, willing surrender and obedience to God.
