Love this. That’s one thing we really love about homeschooling too. We get up and eat when we’re ready and we eat together as a family. We can adjust our schedule when someone is sick or just burned out. The flexibility is great.
Just dirt bag parents admitting that they hate their kids and the kids think their parents are boring as fuck.
Yes lets send our kids to these awesome social environments where they have to wear masks while talking to each other through polycarbonate jail cells surrounding their desks. Absolute pinnacle of effective socialism... I mean socialization.
I have gotten this after deciding to homeschool for high school. My mil wants my son to have a typical high school experience like I had. I told her that that doesn't exist anymore.
My niece was homeschooled in Hawaii until she graduated from high school. She went to college in Oregon and graduated at the top of her class. She is a critical thinker and has strong moral ethics and that’s what this country needs.
Just scrutinize the curriculum of your home school materials and make sure socialism isn't being pushed. Homeschool is great. You can actually end up with kids who are rescued from the brainwashing.
Homeschooling for over 23 years, and I can tell you from experience that we encountered everyone of these statements from numerous friends and family over the years. At this point in our "investment", we have been reaping the rewards of this journey over the years. We almost always hear these type statements from the older generation: "Your kids are so well mannered", "Your kids are so pleasant to be around", "If I had known this is what homeschooling would do, I would have done it myself", "Who says your kids missed social interactions", I could go on and on.
Now this isn't because we were perfect parents, it's because our children were taught respect, critical thinking, responsibility. It was OK for one to have a Grad Degree in Medicine, one to be a Pastor, one to be a Skilled Laborer, one to be a homemaker, a Chef, a professional athlete, etc... These are all avenues our HS grads have pursued, and are successful in these areas of life.
One more benefit we now have, is that due to the friendship's our kids have formed with the older generation, that older generation are now our staunchest advocates. Many of these friends get quite angry with others who still today throw these anti-HS one liners our way, so instead of our responding I just refer them to these friends who are more than happy to engage the naysayers on our behalf ?
FWIW, I reconciled it by knowing that through 8th grade, even if it went poorly, you could make it all up pretty quickly. It turned out absolutely fabulous for us, I cannot even imagine what hell we would have gone through in the public schools.
I have said for years that the homeschooled will be the future of this country. My niece has homeschooled all 3 of her kids. Her oldest just turned 17 and already has college credits. As for socialization? They do all the socializing that those in public schools do. I’ve watched other friends homeschooling their kids. The parents have created their own support networks. I think people have the idea that they just sit at home and do their school work.

If you try homeschooling and somehow it doesn't work... your kid returns to public school in a year or so... FAR ahead of their class.
The only thing they'll have missed is a year of gossip and indoctrination.

Every. Fucking. Time.

Not her son, not her decision.
We're more concerned with socialism-isation.
Socialization is the problem that make one want to homeschool. Why woul done want the kids to be like other kids. Herd mentality is a bad thing.

For all the sOcIaLiZaTiOn folks - bad socialization is not socialization.
No kidding. Kids don't need to be around other kids who will teach them to cuss, show them porn on their phones, introduce them to drugs, etc.
Quit letting the state raise your kids.
