Took my four teenage son's and a friend from up North who was mockingly skeptical to visit them in May. He had a GAW moment stepping out of the car and spent a couple of hours contemplating the change of his worldview 🪑

Visited the Guide stones back in May (have pics if interested). I took along a friend of mine from up north, who had always given me the "eye roll" if I tried to share with him, as he is a well educated, well to do, self made businessman. As he got out of the car and began walking around the grounds and saw it with his own eyes. He looked like he went into a state of shock, as the realization that what he had mocked me for over the years may be actually true. It was a GAW moment for him. He was speechless for about 20 minutes as he took in the implications of what he was witnessing, and what it meant to his entire worldview..

Homeschooling for over 23 years, and I can tell you from experience that we encountered everyone of these statements from numerous friends and family over the years. At this point in our "investment", we have been reaping the rewards of this journey over the years. We almost always hear these type statements from the older generation: "Your kids are so well mannered", "Your kids are so pleasant to be around", "If I had known this is what homeschooling would do, I would have done it myself", "Who says your kids missed social interactions", I could go on and on. Now this isn't because we were perfect parents, it's because our children were taught respect, critical thinking, responsibility. It was OK for one to have a Grad Degree in Medicine, one to be a Pastor, one to be a Skilled Laborer, one to be a homemaker, a Chef, a professional athlete, etc... These are all avenues our HS grads have pursued, and are successful in these areas of life. One more benefit we now have, is that due to the friendship's our kids have formed with the older generation, that older generation are now our staunchest advocates. Many of these friends get quite angry with others who still today throw these anti-HS one liners our way, so instead of our responding I just refer them to these friends who are more than happy to engage the naysayers on our behalf ?

Quick reminder about the ADA card. I recently flew on AA to Miami and I had pulled my mask down under my nose, and the Flight Attendants told me to pull it over my nose. I informed them of my disability, and even showed her my ADA placard. She then told me since I did not notify them at check-in about my disability they were not "prepared" for this and I would have to pull it up or they would not take off. I told her I would pull it up as a courtesy to the other passengers (not to delay their flight), but if I suffered a seizure it would be the Airlines responsibility. I told her I wasn't required to tell her about my disability, but since I was being forced to wear a mask she needed to be aware that I'm Epileptic due to a Brain Tumor. The other passengers on the flight were very gracious towards me and many of them expressed their anger at the Attendants for their attitudes.

Just left FL after spending 3 months wintering. Here's my experiences from being all around Florida (Keys to the Panhandle). All the areas where there Snowbirds from up North (think Dem controlled states) congregate want to bring their mask mandate nonsense with them. Only one time in three months were we ever asked (demanded) to put on a mask, and it was in Orlando. In Dade/Broward/Monroe counties where some form of mandates exist, never had an issue.

We've been in the Florida Keys the past few weeks as we normally spend a month each year down here, having done so the past 8 years. I can tell you that we have seen a large number of Military Aircraft off the coast flying at vey low altitudes in a sweeping pattern. There have always been occasional military planes flying out of NAS Key West that will fly overhead, but nothing to the extent of the activity over the past 5 days. We were wondering why there was so much activity in a region that you wouldn't normally observe it as such...

Let me add a thought here, I live about an hour south of Asheville (in SC), and I can attest to the validity of how Asheville is being described here. Also, research the fact the Obama's bought a "retirement" house in Asheville and it was discussed in 2016 as one of their preferred post Presidential homes...
