Some parts of Florida have limestone that is over a thousand feet thick. Other parts are limestone as well, but are hollowed out due underground rivers and the like. These underground rivers are what cause sinkholes.
This condo was pretty much right on the coast. If it's anything like the Keys there, the ground is solid. The Keys are actually the remnants of an old coral reef ... I don't know if that extended up to what is modern day Miami though. I suspect it is (making a sinkhole unlikely), but I don't know for sure.
Yeah, I agree. I think a sinkhole is unlikely. I was just throwing it an idea but the more I thought about it the more it was rubbish.
