You are correct. Almost everyone has their work persona vs their hanging out with friends persona. Kind of have to since folks have to work together. And it has zero to do with race.
ETA: how many times have we run into co-workers out in the wild and are surprised by their not at work persona and/or appearance?
Bingo.
WTF do these assholes expect? That they can wear pajamas and slippers, while swearing and smoking a cigarette at work? And that goes for ALL races. They're paying you to represent the company professionally and if your social circle is radically different than your professional circle, then you better be able to flip the switch.
And maybe instead of blaming "the white professional world" they should blame black culture for ill preparing them for the professional work place.
Just like I don’t cuss at my clients like I do at my TV when Joe Biden appears. Duh.
