I got the lucky draw.
'79 to '85.
No war, so it was just a six year long frat party with occasional work breaks during the day. And to this day, I still say, the most valuable skill an infantryman in the Corps can have is the ability to play spades well and with imaginative table talk code.
So did I. Went in last few days of 79, got out last few days of 83.
I wasn't actually in the military. It was just the Air Force.
