When 200 armed officers come up against 200,000 armed Patriots who do you think is going to win that battle?
There are 800,000 law enforcement officers in the US. There are 1.8 million military in total. There are over 240 million armed citizens. More than half of LEOs and Military would not take illegal orders and raise arms against American citizens.
So the response to your question is to tell your BIL the numbers do NOT support the argument. If a war broke out between LEOs/MIL and citizens they would be outnumbered more than 10:1.
Wanted to also add a reminder of the video the Seattle (I believe, or it may have been Portland) Police Officer, who was also an ME military vet, gave as a warning to other police officers that if the citizens took up arms en mass that LEOs didn't stand a chance as he witnessed that first hand in the ME.
Ask your BIL to picture going around in a city where 90% of the citizens are ready to kill you. Do you really think you stand a chance in that situation? Picture the same for the military.
He was more referring to an individual citizen vs. LEO's. And that they didn't stand a chance if lets say some LEO tried to come and take your child away for no reason.
I believe he also mentioned an example of what they ran into when he was deployed in the ME. He stated that LEOs have no idea how fast people can organize when they have had enough and that the US Military ran into that exact scenario.
Mow down a bunch of innocent civilians and you would be amazed how fast they can organize. Just ask any Vet of the ME excursions and they will tell you how fast it can happen.

"Quantity has a quality all it's own."

OK, but how long would it take you to get those 200,000 people together? Those 200 armed officers could be round this afternoon.
