Its not just the adrenochrome but also the fetal stem cells. Watch the South Park episode with Christopher Reeves cracking open aborted babies necks and sucking out the stem cells.

Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas has an adrenochrome scene in 1998. The book the movie is based on is autobiographical written by Hunter S Thompson in 1971. He was a real piece of work.
