The font is different. The background graphic is different. It looks like it was put there not by the network but like an oversight body or something. That makes it seem like they are being forced to do this - that the message is there because by law it has to be (?), but that Fox itself does not stand by it.
I noticed this as well, it is different from the normal Chiron, which is typically about 2/3 the height of the logo, with either a red banner of the show logo at the bottom 1/3, or a blue banner with the guest’s name at the top 1/3.
It also normally has a “glossy” gradient that’s white at the top, with smaller margins. This looks to have a more even gradient with white in the middle.

As for why, hard to say. Maybe this is a normal template used for full-height chirons in rare instances, or it may have been provided by a third party directly as a graphic.
Thanks, yeah, that is the one I am picturing!
It’s like the visual branding of this is what creates the impression of “Fox says this”.
Then you flip to CNN and their branding creates the impression of “CNN says this”.
To me this more generic branding is saying: “This is beyond (above) politics. And also it is very official because look at how mature it looks. None of that flash and color.”
Ive seen other times they do this sort of message bar at the bottom and I don’t see how that overlay is different from their other overlays. Do you have a comparison that makes it more clear?
OK it could be. I haven’t really watched Fox in awhile. I seem to remember a much thicker font with white text and a more gradient headline background that was I think red and yellow? This plain grey background and smaller thinner black font looks really strange to me. It just doesn’t have that big-budget corporate graphic polish.
Yeah it seems pretty normal to me. I’d look up other graphic overlays before jumping to conclusions or else you risk running away with an idea
