Hear me out here. They've been cheating this way for decades now. They happened to get caught bigly this time, but they've been doing it everywhere for decades now. So WHY are they suddenly so freaked out about a few new laws? That's never stopped them before. Yeah it'll make it slightly harder in some states, but unless we have annual audits, it's not like we could catch every single vote they cheat.
Look at Texas and Georgia for example. They made such a big deal about Georgia's new laws that it's become an ongoing national headline. All they did to my knowledge is ban mobile registration and voting trucks, enact stricter hours, and a few other things. Without an audit every year, how is this going to prevent them from running ballots through a dozen times, dumping in millions of fake photocopied ballots till they get their way, swapping votes by the hundreds of thousands/millions, etc.
In Texas, roughly a third of the state house is planning on fleeing to DC and risking being arrested and charged with various crimes, something which both Abbot and the Texas speaker of the house have said they intend to do if they try to pull this crap, in an effort to prevent very similar laws from passing in Texas.
So my question is, WHY? Why go to such lengths to prevent a few laws that just make it slightly harder to cheat?
Welp, time to see if Abbot and the Texas GOP have the balls to go through with threats and drag them back to Austin in handcuffs.
yah, I wonder what will happen. Does TX DPS have any authority outside of Texas? How about the Texas Rangers? yeee haw, hold my beer!
Well beyond that, at this point it's a dereliction of duty. I get the strange feeling that this is going to end up in court since, to my knowledge, Texas still hasn't passed a budget for the next year because of this crap. It's going to get to a point where the state is going to have a shutdown crisis like what happened when the federal government had a shutdown over passing a budget and a court is going to have to either force them to stay and vote or let the GOP vote without them.
Now that I've had a chance to do a little reading and get caught up on this, here's what I think: this is desperation. Which is good for us. We'll see what happens, eh? What a time to be alive!
Yes, you're right! That's not going to go over well here in the Lone Star state.
