I used to watch hockey. 82 games a year x 3 hrs per broadcast = 246 hrs, that's with no playoffs or any time spent reading about it, etc. All that investment for a 1 in 30 chance your team wins the championship and you experience joy.
However, my team DID win it, and the joy is so shallow and brief. It was a nice thought for a week or two, but didn't really make me happy. So even when I hit the 1 in 30 chance of getting the "payoff" I wanted, it STILL wasn't worth 250+ hours.
Sports watching is a waste of life.
When the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2013 I was excited but you’re right. It was short lived and doesn’t bring you true happiness. I stopped watching football this year.
Used to love college football but ESPN and the playoff have ruined it.
