I hate myself for being the one to ask. Why is Robert E. Lee a hero? Maybe there is honestly something I don’t know. I do know he was stripped of his citizenship for his role in the Civil War. But the Dems would do well to remember it was their Sainted Jimmy Carter who posthumously restored Lee’s citizenship.
Lee was an honored West Point graduate who was a terrific officer in the Mexican American War. His Civil War letters to his wife show that he wasn’t necessarily pro-slavery, and served the Confederacy because his friends asked him to for the sake of his home state’s rights.
Thank you. I remembered he fought in the Mexican-American war. But I also recall President Lincoln felt Lee unnecessarily prolonged the war and that was a big reason he lost his citizenship. I need to do more reading now, this has piqued my curiosity.
Lee was a hero and a great general ..but first let me say I'm a northerner born and raised ...
But Lee was sought after to lead the union army. He was torn between the nation of America and his loyalty to his state.. back in those days states had far more rights than now and ones state was your home land .
He chose to stay with his state ( loyalty)
He and grant treated one another are equals and were civil like real men should be .
So his loyalty to his state and the fact that the north wanted him ,shows his worth. .
And the CSA was just that. Confederate states of America. We are, we were all Americans...
So like all great generals of this great nation. Lee is and was a hero and a patriot
You should never fear repercussion for asking questions, rather.
Slavery wouldn’t have been abolished for automation - why do Corporations work with Cartels to traffic men, women and children across the border in such massive numbers?
The pro-Confederate bullshit isn’t Q related in the slightest. Never has been.
I respect Robert E. Lee as a leader and during his time as a Patriot. However, siding with the CSA was a mistake...
Knowing how we’ve bred Cattle to the point we have? It’s a damn good thing the CSA was crushed - the black man would’ve been bred to the point they were super human compared to their white peers; able to lift more and work harder than anyone. An army of John Henrys.
America didn’t need to go out like Haiti did - and it damn sure would’ve been worse had they kept up artificial selection for slaves.
Plus the CSA is what the Democrats are today... They just learned not to secede this time.
Robert E Lee was a democrat this sentence is the problem. Labels are too broad of a category. To Label someone a Democrat or a Republican is to paint them with the brush. The terms are constantly changing or seem to change.. There is more to every person than the label you put on them. No one is all good or all bad. There is usually a balance in each of us.
I agree with all of that-- except I have found that most are simply more good or more bad. Most ppl have done bad things and many are regularly good -- I guess what I'm trying to say is that the ratio is rarely equal.
& of course some bad ideas, actions, or intentions negate any good the person may honestly or dishonestly express.

Lee was torn but ultimately felt that he couldn't betray his home state by fighting for the Union. He was an honorable man and a great general.
Thank you. Exchanges like these make this site enjoyable for me.

Thanks! I always enjoy responses that make me want to learn more.
Also, you shouldn't hate yourself for asking questions. It's how we learn

The War of Northern Aggression was not about slavery. Because of automation, slavery would have ended in 10 or 20 years anyway.
We are all slaves. Most just don't realize it.
You know, she probably knows something we don't but she did say, if you want to trigger a leftist. Did you get triggered by that? Jk 🤣
Right I'm confused by this as well. Robert E Lee was a democrat
Not all democrats were evil. Misguided perhaps. But if I recall, he was willing to accept defeat and continued serving this country.

Republican was horrific?
