So the Trump tweet is right there. The vote counts are well within the realm of reason from what I can see. (250k/670k)
So what was Trump firing on there? I realize that the voter fraud debate doesn't hinge on that Tweet, but for a guy that sometimes seems to know the future, it is downright sloppy. You could certainly argue that 95% for Biden is suspicious, but how suspicious? And if the votes are proportional to the people, why fire on that when it's not the actual problem?
Slop like that floating around will make it impossible to engage with people on fraud until more info emerges.
You're using the entire population of Detroit... This includes people who aren't eligible. This shouldn't even need to be explained. Registered is still about 500k certainly, but there was a PlLF lawsuit around the same time of posting that alleged there were only about 470k eligible voters. Likely what he was referring to if he wasn't talking about specific counties. Yes, he should have been more careful in phrasing, but either way, a strawman in a much larger scandal. Blues miss the forest by looking at the trees.
Starting population of Detroit, 670k from 2019 census data. We seem to be in agreement there.
Registered voters, 506k from the Detroit city results. We seem to be in agreement there.
Voter turnout, I'm just quoting the Detroit city results again: 257k. I'm not saying that is the "true" number or not, but it's obviously what the city is reporting.
Trump's Tweet states: FAR MORE VOTES THAN PEOPLE. So the people in question are either the starting population of 670k if you're very literal minded, or 506k if you're starting with eligible voters, which makes more sense. Either way the reported turnout of 257k is less than both numbers.
What am I missing that shouldn't need to be explained?
I shouldn't need to explain that the overall population == eligible voters. As I've already said, I don't agree with what he posted. But as I've said, according to a lawsuit, number of eligible voters is 30k less than registered voters. The number you cite, the 500k are registered. Difference between registered and eligible.
I will say this for Blue Anon, if you just take a question and paste it in your average search engine right now, you will get some quality arguments.
Take for example this Trump tweet:
"In Detroit, there are FAR MORE VOTES THAN PEOPLE. Nothing can be done to cure that giant scam. I win Michigan!"
Here's Russ Ramland making the claim that Michigan has 3000 precincts and many with 99% to over 300% turnout for the Presidential vote.

Here are the results from 2020 on Detroit's website. They show ~250k votes total with 95% for Biden:

Ok gotcha, so eligible 470k, registered 506k.
