Starting population of Detroit, 670k from 2019 census data. We seem to be in agreement there.
Registered voters, 506k from the Detroit city results. We seem to be in agreement there.
Voter turnout, I'm just quoting the Detroit city results again: 257k. I'm not saying that is the "true" number or not, but it's obviously what the city is reporting.
Trump's Tweet states: FAR MORE VOTES THAN PEOPLE. So the people in question are either the starting population of 670k if you're very literal minded, or 506k if you're starting with eligible voters, which makes more sense. Either way the reported turnout of 257k is less than both numbers.
What am I missing that shouldn't need to be explained?
I shouldn't need to explain that the overall population == eligible voters. As I've already said, I don't agree with what he posted. But as I've said, according to a lawsuit, number of eligible voters is 30k less than registered voters. The number you cite, the 500k are registered. Difference between registered and eligible.
ELI5 then, please, in all seriousness.
