Happens all the time.

That plumber that got a bunch of scathing and abusive phone-calls one day accusing him of being an isis supporter.. and figured out that the news showed footage of a truck driving around in the hills of the middle east with an isis crew, a mounted gun in the back, and his business logo, name and contact number painted on the side..

A truck he sold like years previously.. and he had a way to track the truck and identified it passed via a seller in turkey. Literally figured out single-handedly that isis was being funded and armed by the turkish scum erdogan while all the governments of the world were pretending this nation was some legit and lawful member of nato.. that just coincidentally happened to be vectoring in millions of muslim terrorists to EU nations.

Why pay intel services and agencies a single dollar when Joe Sixpack blue collar guy with no resources or training can do their job better, and for free?

DOJ, FBI - I blame the movies for romanticism of these agencies. The typical ant in these organizations are in it for the pay and gov benefits.
