I only just found out about today. This is a lot more extreme than banning public content like youtube videos. Seems like a desperate extreme to me. Deleting private documents?
WOW this is literally communist russia/china/cuba/Nam/et al level shit. It's beyond comprehension this is where we are as a country, barely 3 decades after someone as Patriotic as Ronald Reagan was leading our country.
What is the point of holding a document unless you intend to transmit that information to another person who has not seen it?
I don't believe that the fact that Google used the word 'distribute' in their misleading content clause means that they won't delete documents that exhibit wrongthink in their view.
Thanks for the reminder. I have used Google docs for years to save recipies. Before I knew of the Google evil plot. I just checked, and yes, they wanted me to sign in again to access my files. My killer chocolate chip cookie recipe is still safe.Though I’m sure recipies are not going to be deleted, I will move those to another app. Next project is gmail. They know it’s a major hassle to change email addresses, which is why I’ve put it off. Removing private files is the last straw Google.
Tip... the Chuck App for iPad is fabulous for easily deleting old emails, instantly unsubscribing to multiple unwanted emails.
Goodbye Google, sorry you decided to kill your business.
I wonder if their censorship algorithms can be tricked into deleting something that goolag could be sued for deleting?
I'm not sure what kind of document would qualify for that, but if such a thing exists, maybe just mixing in a few key words in it would trigger an auto-delete algorithm, and make them liable for damages?
Yep, they've been doing this for months

Yep
Anything you upload to ANY so-called "cloud" service is no longer private and no longer under your control.
Correct
Or just don’t use google…

Keyword is "distribute".
As long as you are not sharing links to files or docs, you should be okay.
I zip anything like that anyways. Good way to hide files. Or just use AWS S3.
Is not Amazon also to be avoided? They are so big I just don’t trust their services, other than free shipping of basic stuff.
Of course. See my other comment.

That certificate
The last sentence in the middle highlighted paragraph is VERY interesting.
Where are we communist China? Can they actually read my personal documents? Is this real?

😳 this next level Bullshitery
Hold Shït
...threaten our ability to provide these services .....
hmmmmm
Psaki certainly has to circle back on this one:
-Did you threaten google to destroy them if they are not onboard with your policies of censorship?
