I think there are always apps/sites that did not sell their soul. Maybe Slashdot is an example. It was so huge and so popular, and it just fell into oblivion. My bet is they rejected offers by [DS] and were punished.

Same with DiggNation, NetVibes etc. They all had promise but disappeared completely.

Places like Reddit/Discord etc that happily take Chinese money, put DS agents as on their board etc - they shoot sky high.
