It won't bankrupt him if he can make it a union issue. It might bankrupt the union though if enough members of the collective bargaining unit fight it. They have to do an investigation and termination for each individual - they can't blanket fire everyone unless they don't follow the law or the union has that stipulation in the contract but, that is VERY unlikely because it would basically make all members "at will" employees.
