My husband works for DHS. His union pretty much told him and his un"vaccinated" coworkers to fuck off and comply. DHS is planning on starting weekly COVID tests for the un"vaxxed". I'm sure it'll eventually turn into mandatory "vax". He's getting a lawyer.
He needs to let his union know that he will fight termination of the forced jab is not covered in his collective bargaining agreement. Research "Pre-determination" and "Weingarten" . In the age of corruption we currently live in, no telling if that will mean anything but, at the very least,his union will have to spend money defending his position. The worst that can happen is he'll get fired, which is basically the same result as if he does not fight it and refuses the jab.
The process of terminating requires there to be an investigation and then a supposedly impartial third party to hear both sides of the case. In ANY AND EVERY interaction before or during that process, DO NOT offer any opinion or an explanation for why you are refusing the jab - let them talk, record everything and demand union representation EVERY SINGLE TIME. In short, HAVE a plausible reason for rejecting the jab, but don't tell them enough about your reason for them to build an argument against it. Save your ammo for the termination hearing. I'm not a lawyer, seek legal representation, know your rights and your contract.

We survived us both being laid off half the year last year. I'm sure we will survive whatever else comes our way.
It won't bankrupt him if he can make it a union issue. It might bankrupt the union though if enough members of the collective bargaining unit fight it. They have to do an investigation and termination for each individual - they can't blanket fire everyone unless they don't follow the law or the union has that stipulation in the contract but, that is VERY unlikely because it would basically make all members "at will" employees.
New Orleans mayor just called the mask mandate AND ALL city workers have to take the shot! Rumor is tons of cops are quitting. Crime is already bad. Going to get reall bad bf it gets better

That is what I told many office workers in NY State when we were all mandated to take the H1N1 shots back in 2009. I walked right in and told the county dept head that I would quit before I took that shot. And everyone in the office heard me and a secretary called me later on about it. They wanted to know what to do and I told them to wait until the last minute and make a decision.
I had my own business and I sub contracted with the county to see EI and preschool kids as a therapist. I heard from the county dept head that an entire agency of therapists who did all the evaluations for the county had told her the same thing. None of them were gonna take the shot. (We all worked with VAX damaged kids) They were gonna lose that group, too.
The mandatory shot was rescinded by the NY State Health guy who mandated it so all those who waited did not have to take it.
Hopefully, something similar will happen to your cousin.
Tell him to come down to Texas. Im sure he could get a job just about anywhere. Or he could start his own private security company. Businesses are paying more than the cities can pay or will pay because the business owners are trying to protect their property and not give it over to Antifa thugs

All police officers should stick together for freedom of choice. This is not about vaxed vs. un vaxed. It is about freedom, and every officer should be in favor of that. Massive resignation will cripple New York and send it into chaos of violence, theft, destruction and murder. Is the state willing to chance that?

He's NYPD, he's in a union. Use the USPS model, it ain't in the contract, it can't be a condition of employment. Make it a union issue.
