I agree with you that too much of it seemed to have happened without it being "allowed". At this point, I don't believe in the pre-set demolition theory, but I don't totally discount it as a possibility. I knew a man who thoroughly researched the Pearl Harbor attacks, and he was convinced U.S. knew and let it happen, because there needed to be national outrage to justify getting involved in WWII, so, in light of that, having the nation outraged to get involved with the mideast "war" situation, fits in well.
