I thought the same thing. It went from 5,000 reviews to less than 500. It seems a lot of people have left 5 star reviews in the last 24 hours, getting the numbers back up.
I honestly don't see the problem with this because eit goes both way: you can't carpet bomb the reviews, either positive or negative, based on personal opinion. The reviews are to outline the experience of the store, not your personal opinion. Imagine in 20,000 losers all posted 1 star reviews based on his anti-trans comments, and google scrubbed them? We'd be cheering and the left would be jeering.
And before you go and say those were honest reviews, I highly doubt a tiny collectors shop in Aberdeen, WA got 5500 reviews, let alone ALL 5 stars.
Maybe it's actual customers reposting their experiences after learning what Google had done. It doesn't always have to be one option that you've presented.
This. I remember when everyone on The Donald was going crazy about whatever-thousand reviews being deleted from IMDB for Captain Marvel with everyone on TD crying about "muh censoring honest criticisms". Except after deleting the reviews the audience score went down. So either IMDB was pushing an anti-Captain Marvel/anti-woke agenda or they were deleting actual bot/fake/spam reviews.

The store has had 25000 visitors from all over the world who have taken pics with owner and left their mark on a ma p he has.
I don't doubt he could get loyal customers and friends to review the store positively
