The reason that I don’t get them any more is because I’ve had a reaction every time, and the last reaction was my whole arm and shoulder being red and painful to touch/use for a week after the shot.
There is a very small chance that tetanus could affect me from any small scrape or wound, but there is a greater risk of a severe reaction from getting the shot again.
My choice on that vaccine (or any) is not an uneducated choice, it’s a benefit/risk analysis, and for me, the shot poses a greater risk. My doctor happens to support and agree with the decision, so there is no reason that any other doctor should shame or lecture me on refusing that, or any vaccine.
Informed consent, not coercion, should be the rule in most situations.
