Yes but the constitution says the president must be a natural born citizen not just a citizen. Some legal experts interpret this mean born on the land as it was to protect from even the slightest chance of someones loyalties lying with some other nation they were born in etc. But this interpretation has never been fully litigated in the Supreme Court i dont believe.
