There are several reports that describe the Bush administration's negotiations concerning the pipeline with the Taliban including threats of war if the project was not allowed to pass through Afghanistan. The Taliban is now gone and a new Afghani President, Harmid Karzai was installed in the Afghanistan government. It is more than coincidence that President Karzai was a former Unocal consultant.
With the Karzai government, opium production immediately increased to previous levels before the Taliban came to power.

As far as your question.....I wish I knew the answer. There have been many who despise Israel....literally all the surrounding countries hate Israel with a passion. But, I think that division, which has just grown stronger with time, has been created by the devil. It says in the Bible that a sign of the ends of times is when every country will turn their back on Israel. People may not like Israel for whatever reasons they may express, but God does have a special place in His heart for Israel and its people. They may be small in number, but I do find it incredible how strong they really are. I personally think that their strengths come from more than just from man's power. God's in the picture I do believe.
