Within Taiwan (just like everywhere), there are at least two factors: pro-China (not sure if that generally means they are pro-unification, that might be another faction) and pro-independence. My cousin (and my family in general) is pro-independence and her husband is pro-China. They fight all the time too.

It's nice to have a based embroider from China though. That seems a better situation than a Taiwanese person needing to fight with their pro-China Chinese spouse all the time. =) But most people are in some kind of contention with their own family, just the way "they" wanted it. But it is what it is. Just have to deal with everything one day at a time.
