Something to think about. I remember many times Drs saying this!

Damn, it sounds like you've been through hell and back - I'm glad you're OK! You probably already tried this, but in case you haven't, I have found it helps to have one of those humidifiers that have a little cup at the top (like from Vick's) where they want you to pour their medicine, but instead I use eucalyptus essential oil and run that all night while I sleep to breathe it in. It helps so much - if you haven't tried that, I highly recommend it. Also I use distilled/filtered or spring water in the humidifier so I'm not breathing in all the chemicals they put in tap water.
At the time it certainly felt like hell! I thought for the briefest moment that death might have been a better alternative. I wasn't suicidal, but I could understand for one small moment why some people take their lives when all they know is bodily pain. I do not condone suicide though, since I believe taking your own life is rejecting the greatest gift God has given you.
The worst part about getting sick for that long was that I was in my senior year at college. I missed 2 FULL weeks of classes, the most I've ever missed in my life, and had to do a lot of catch-up afterward. It was a very stressful time because I was also preparing my senior art show exhibits and also managing my Youtube channel. It was crazy.
I used to use humidifiers, not so much anymore since I've been okay these last 5 years.
