I strongly disagree with the assertion of many in this forum that the American military is to blame for this debacle. Withdrawal could have been planned better, sure. But the underlying issue is the loss of the government and reversion to Taliban rule. This is not the fault of the American military. We gave them training and security cover for 20 years. This is an issue of the Afghan people being war weary and not caring enough to stand and fight. The loss is on the Afghans, not the Americans.

You are presupposing that the information from "the news" is truthful. There might actually be peace in Afghanistan. We have no way of knowing what's happening there. Even those living there only "know" what's happening from "the news".
The underlying issue isn’t just the loss of govt/Taliban rule - it’s how America has appeared weak and incompetent.
It gives the Taliban a win under its belt - a rallying cry and maybe the confidence to try a new attack on America sometime soon.
Beyond that America also fucked up the order in which they withdrew. Leaving translators and non military personnel there unguarded is terrible.
While we should not be taking care of everyone we still got involved with something and then the way we pulled out was not right. Politicians get us involved with things and then turn around a screw the whole thing up by the way they end it. Now because of the Biden Admin we are back to square one which is where we were like 20 years ago. It could have been handle in a much better way but has usual they just opened a can of worms.
The loss is on Americans, the Afghans current actions just show how much of a waste it's been for us the last 20 years in time, money, and blood shed.
But I see what you're getting at fren.
I don't know if the Taliban will be any more or less corrupt than the previous Afghan government.
I just wish we could all get along...
That said, can anybody provide help with getting the fuck out of the Selective Service program due to FAFSA Aid enrollment? Trying to not die in WW3 over PedoRez and JewBankers so I can one day raise a family or at least live past this shit.
K thx...
P.S. #BidenFuckedUp
for 20 years our military has been used for "nation building" -- a preposterous notion, disastrous policy, and political lie -- just another virtuous sounding cover for money-laundering and pillaging of resources.
Weather or not the Afghan people can protect themselves is kind of irrelevant. We as the U.S. got involved and made it our business. With that being said, if we need to protect our allies that have helped us and sacrificed with us. Then that is what we do. We protect our brothers. If you want to make a debate on, if we should have been there in the first place, Now I am with you.
