It depends on whether the Taliban goes back to destroy all the poppies. US and UK soldiers were often sent to "protect" the poppy fields (opium and heroin). In 2001 the Taliban wiped out all the poppies, not long after Bush invaded. Poppy production skyrocketed after the Afghan regime change and flood the world with heroin. 90 % of the world's heroin comes from Afghanistan (while under US occupation).
(media said then that Taliban's funds came from opium, but they still destroyed all the poppy fields in 2001. Maybe there was a deeper reason)
The fake news keeps insisting the Taliban is funding itself with poppies and will take over the drug market, but I don't think so and they don't seem so sure of that. Besides, why did the US and UK have to always guard the poppy fields? (Because the remnants of the Taliban relentlessly destroyed Poppy fields through the entire US occupation. They hate the poppies for religious reasons and think they're evil).
August is an important time for Poppy production. If they destroy them, then it was not a DS operation. Opium and Heroin are big money-makers to the DS. The British Empire's East India company was built on the production of Opium.
When the Taliban destroyed the poppies in 2001 they destroyed billions for the DS.
I doubt the DS would willingly hand over the poppy production to the Taliban on the wild hope that this time they leave the poppies alone. Why not just keep in under US MI control as the DS has for 17 years?
Fake news says the Taliban won't touch the Poppy trade like in 2001. We'll see.

I suspect this was a white hat op. I'll know it was when I see what the Taliban does to the poppies this summer.
Agreed. Often you have to let things play out if you do not know the specifics to begin with.
