Reasons many, including myself, always said the Matrix was a hollywood documentary with special effects.

That movie is a mirror of reality.

The W bros.. or whatever they are now took influence from a whole bunch of Japanese anime, books, etc. in fact most of the Matrix is basically a homage.

In Japan there is a intense fascination with the machine-human idea.
