I can't see a downside here. If people stay home then NFL loses more money and becomes even more irrelevant.

Those that comply get what they deserve. I do not wish death upon them. However I do wish them their worst bout of flu they've ever had. This may spark some brain activity in them which is exactly what they need the most.
