We can still buy guns just most people don't, it's not in our culture but many still stockpile them. If people wanted to they could just band together, get a license and go buy out the entire gun store tomorrow.

Most Australians think you need a "super serious valid reason" to get one, and they think that reason has to be really really important, we can literally say our reason is target shooting and go get a license.
