Not to be a contrarian, but I know for a fact that there are at least SOME lottery winners that are legit. I know a guy IRL who won the jackpot on one of those "win X amount per week for life" lotteries. He's a white trash dope fiend who basically uses his lottery winnings as super welfare.
I personally think most lottery winner ARE legitimate. There's too many stories of them winning, horribly mismanaging their money, then going bankrupt in a few years out there. There's also who TV shows about lottery winners, ranging from how they spend their money, to how they blew it up and ended up homeless.
That being said, I'm sure there IS some shady crap that goes on with the lottery like everything else. If you ever look at the actual numbers, you'll see there are massive discrepancies in the number of tickets sold and the amount the jackpot increases every drawing no one wins. Personally, I think that's where all of the money siphoning is happening. They're laundering a large percentage of the money that people use to buy tickets, which is supposed to go towards paying lottery employees and the prizes, nothing else, and siphoning it off to fund their pet projects like BLM. The fact that they're adding a third weekly drawing, makes me believe this is what's happening even more since it gives them another opportunity to siphon money from people every week.
Also, for the record it's not just Ohio. It's every state that participates in the powerball.
