Atheists actually use the Bible as their basis for their moral code. That’s the irony of it.. CS Lewis refers to it in Mere Christianity where he talks about “the law of nature” - there’s a universal moral code all people tend to reference, even atheists. Even in their God-hating, self-worship - they still reference biblical truths when it comes to morality. My favorite are the ones that are “my religion is kindness.” LOL.
I think it's funny he mentions the bible as the moral code for all of humanity but humans have been conquering and murdering since before and after the bible. Not much has changed except for all the people that have made an incredibly lavish living off of snake oil.
It's just funny to me how religion always tries to monopolize good behavior as its own... Like it authored it. Like people cannot behave well without it. Just more religifag wishful thinking.
“Like people cannot behave well without it.” You’re literally referencing the universal moral code Lewis talked about.
And listen, Jesus followers are not necessarily religious and are most certainly imperfect. When Christians go to church on Sunday they’re admitting their sin - their need for a savior. If they were perfect, they’d be out jogging with all those other perfect people on Sunday mornings.
I think it’s also important to point out that humans didn’t invent the Bible or the canon. Humans aren’t “good” apart from God. God existed before the Bible was written. Human beings had a moral code written on their hearts before humanity was saved by Jesus.
Universal moral code, but where did that come from? I believe it came from God. The Bible says, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.”
Jesus loves you, man. People are imperfect beings. If I’m a bad person because I believe that sin exists and I’m willing to call sin, sin so be it.

Also, it’s kind of interesting to note that Lewis was a hardcore atheist before he came to Christ. Food for thought. JRR Tolkien ministered to him.
I don't revere Lewis as some intellectual power house... Regardless, there's some very brilliant people out there that still believe crazy shit.
Who said anything about religion. God has nothing to do with religion. Christianity is a way of a Father with his children.
The rest is man-made bullshit to detract from what God has done. But God is no pushover and neither should his people be.
LOFL

Telling someone they're not good simply because they exist. That's psychologically damaging.
The rest of your comments are unsubstantiated speculation in order to justify your elitism (that you pretend you don't have).
What came first, universal moral code or your religion?
I know, I know!!!

Even though you have hate in your heart I still love you.
