Efficacy of Nicotine in Preventing COVID-19 Infection (NICOVID-PREV)
Daily active smokers are infrequent among outpatients or hospitalized patients with COVID-19. Several arguments suggest that nicotine is responsible for this protective effect via the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR).
Nicotine may inhibit the penetration and spread of the virus and have a prophylactic effect in COVID-19 infection.
You don't have to smoke it, just can use a lozenge.
Do you know of any science or reports that indicate vaping is harmful. I never smoked, but did chew tobacco. Got addicted to the nicotine gum as means to quit chewing, and now I'm vaping to quit the gum lol.
I haven't done any research on health of vaping, and wondering if you might have.
I have a little. I quit 20 year dipping habit, and was ready to pull my hair out by day 3..so my brother bought me cheap vape pen. That was 10 years ago, and I haven't touched tobacco since. I've also stepped down from the highest nicotine level I could buy to the lowest. In fact, I usually by 3mg nicotine liquid and mix it 1:1 with zero-nicotine liquid. Moved from a pen to a nice unit, etc.
The biggest concern I've read about is people being concerned about propylene glycol, which is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) as a good additive, by confusing it with ethylene glycol (which you don't want to breathe, lol).
Also, you don't want to vape any fats/oils, as you don't want lipid pneumonia. Diacetyl should be avoided as well (butter flavoring) for the same reason (popcorn lung, ewwew). I only buy brands I trust, nothing fly by night from China.
I vape mint and berry flavors, clear liquid. Never felt better, and my teeth look great again. If you're really worried about it you can even make your own liquid.
Not saying it's healthy, but it's better than waking around with a plug in my lip. There's even and old study showing mice exposed to aerosol of propylene glycol for colds less than other mice. I'll reference it if you're interested. But it's from the 50s lol.
Thanks. I trust my local vap vendor a hell of a lot more than I do my doctor. Sad ain't it.
