That's what attending the meetings is about.
You wanna serve on the board? You better have kids that go there.
This would also limit terms for Board members.
What about people whose kids grew up and no longer attend, but the people on the board have been contributing to the community in that way for years? I think you might need to relax just a tad on this. For instance: "My niece attends school in this district." That is technically "skin in the game," wouldn't you agree?
Also, school boards propose budgets and property owners without children in the school pay the outrageous property taxes (which fund School budgets in my state). They deserve a voice also.
Exactly. As a taxpayer with grown kids, I deserve input regarding taxes. The largest portion of my property taxes go for schools.
Parents with enrolled kids should have the biggest voice regarding curriculum and operational policies.
