See, this is the problem. City Dwellers assume that anyone who lives in a rural region is some backwoods hick who fucks his daughter-cousin-2nd-wife and the family sheep while naked except for a pair of filthy coveralls, who barely squeaked past the 2nd grade, never once considering that the people they disparage are the same people who put food on their tables. They never consider for a moment that agriculture is an actual industry, and that it takes time and, yes, education, to get good at raising cattle or wheat for them to eat. After all, people have been doing it for centuries, so it must be easy right?
I'm not saying it doesn't go the opposite direction either, because it does. I've lived in rural and urban environments enough to see it, but this is the problem, City Dwellers look down their noses at Farmers and Ranchers, assuming they must be lesser-beings, rather than actually discussing the point of view of the people who have made their food for, in the case of some families, hundreds of years.

As someone who has lived on both sides of the fence, you are 100% correct.
