The SacBee article seems to say that they are Afghans, who have asylum in the US, but went back to Afghanistan, and are now stuck. They also want to bring back other family members with them..."brothers." Maybe I read it wrong.
Interesting. If you we're granted asylum, basically your old home country is a place you can never again go back to. Generally speaking, asylum claims are based on that premise.
If these people have gone back to visit willingly, then it brings into question the validity of the asylum claim.
Last week these were kids on a school sponsored trip. Now they are supposedly asylum seekers who went back to that home country. I wish we has clarity and certainty about who these people are.
That's how understand it too.
Asylum was granted because their lives are in danger in going back,,,,
and yet there they are "visiting". Bullshit... run those asylum papers through the shredder... I hope they don't allow them back in.
Make them payback all the $$ spent on their "asylum" vacation they had here
