With everything going on right now can someone elaborate the significance of this and why now instead of years ago? Guessing maybe because they were controlled by a board instead of a private owner. Definitely interesting.
the firearms were purchased by some LLC in TN I believe.
This is interesting.
Sandy Hook happened in 2014.
Quick look, and have not found when Remington was sued by SH families, but SCOTUS made a ruling in 2019 that lawsuit could move forward. So, must have been filed and Motion to Dismiss appealed twice, which means filed prior to 2019.
Remington filed Chapter 11 BK in 2018, and again in 2020
Various parts of Remington were sold off in 2020 as part of the BK
Not sure, but looks like those 7 parts are not the "Remington" brand firearms part of the business, and that part is still Remington
Remington offered a $33 million settlement this year (July 2021), but apparently families won't settle (unusual, since this is $3.66 million per child, and children do not usually have a high "economic value" so no reason to believe a final settlement would be much more); this leads me to think that the plaintiffs are doing this to push a political agenda
Now that a settlement won't happen, Remington is pushing for discovery to prove something about the students, which seems to be to prove that they existed at all.

I’m aware of that. Vista purchased the ammunition side of Remington and the firearms were purchased by some LLC in TN I believe.
This is interesting.
I'm wondering if some indictments were unsealed....
